Footpaths, Poverty, Cars and Indian Judiciary

This post is not about bashing singer Abhijeet, after all he was already on News hour and Arnab was at his best as usual and I don’t think I will match Arnab even if have to write my words with flames. But I would still want to express my frustration over it. It is shocking to see Psychos living among us, pretending to be normal in the branded clothes. This judgment on Salman khan opens up a bigger debate which goes beyond Salman khan, his celebrity status, he “being a human” and other non-sense. People die every day, thousands of them die every day and they die in accidents like Salman caused.
Hundreds of “drunk and drive” cases gets filed every night across the country, number of accidents takes place when a driver is drunk and people get killed. So Salman khan also committed the same crime that hundreds of Indians are committing every day and night. It would have been just another case if he was awarded punishment quickly or morons like Abhijeet didn’t tweet the way he tweeted. May be a portion of  Salamn’s fans also must be thinking in the same way saying “who cares about the poor guy died 13 years ago, don’t punish him, we can’t wait 5 more years for his next movie, let him entertain us”. The astonishing thing in the whole story is defense lawyer trying use the charity Salman endorses.

How about this?

Indian law should be amended to provide special protections to social workers, celebrities who involve in charity. So that they can get away if they committed any crime and hence they can do a greater good to the society by continuing their social service  . Let us say

INR 1- 5 crore donation and  1 year social service
Can drink and drive,  No case
INR 6 – 10 crores and 2 years social service
Can drink and drive, hit cause injuries – No case
INR 10 crore and more than 5 years of social service
Can drink and drive, hit and cause death – No case

Insane…..  Right? The argument of the defense lawyer and few of Salman’s fans who are trying to use his charity as a qualifier to pardon him from the crime is equally insane, just that when we represent as above it looks so but otherwise when it is about celebrates it does not. So defense lawyer and other senseless people – GO TO HELL.

Footpaths are not for sleeping

Fair enough!  While I want to go the bigger point of why people are sleeping on footpaths, it is important to consider the fact that what if on that night nobody was sleeping on the footpath but few are taking a walk on the footpath? He would have killed one or two. The logic of he was killed because they slept on the footpath does not stand even a meager chance.
Delhi footpaths are home for 0.2 million people and over 40,000 families live on the footpaths of Mumbai, the important is question is why?
Because they are poor, they don’t have homes, vicious successive governments could not succeed in providing basic amenities to the sons and daughters of this land. Will we ever succeed in bring this number down? This third largest economy in the world be able to provide roof to the poor to hide his head and not become prey for drunken drivers?

Justice delayed, it can further get delayed

More than 3 crore cases are pending in Indian courts as of De, 2014, It took 13 years for a session’s court to conclude in this case and award punishment, the ridiculous thing is there are at least another 3 layers of courts and if it takes same time it will take another 36 years to finally……finally conclude on this, by then who is alive and who is dead.
